FASHIONS FOR 1962

Rotary Club’s Parade A preview of beachwear and playsuits for 1962, made under licence in New Zealand from designs by Jacques Heim of Paris, was shown recently to members of the Christchurch South Rotary Club and their wives. The mannequin parade, held at the Sign of the Takahe, included autumn and winter wear for all occasions. An outstanding model was a bridal gown of imported French fabric embroidered with crystals, sequins and pearls and set off with rhinestones, valued at £llO. Also shown were a debutante’s ball gown and a bridesmaid’s frock. r’ s”*. 5 ”*. The parade was compered by Mrs C. P. Pablecheque. Women's footwear, including samples with squared toes and flared Louis heels made of a new type of coloured patent, was also displayed. Many of the shoes, not previously seen in New Zealand, were of Parisian design. The footwear was shown bv a club member (Mr R. A. Marsh) who gave an illustrated talk on styles from the beginning of this century to the present day. Mrs A. Ledsham sang a bracket of songs, accompanied by Mrs H. Wilson.
