Children Misusing Emergency ’Phone

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 27. Schoolchildren are abusing the new emergency “dial 111” service and jeopardis-

ing the effectiveness of the scheme, the Post Office reported today.

There were 26 false “111” calls from children between 3.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. yesterday. Genuine calls included one fire, three ambulance and seven police alarms.
