FAT LAMB AWARDS

Judging At Smithfield (Special Crspdt N.ZJ>.A.) LONDON. April 26. Southern Hawke’s Bay won the North Island district competition for fat lambs on the Smithfield market today. The judging this year was by Messrs H. D. Curran, W. Church, and L. Ware.

Commenting on the results, Mr Curran said: “New Zealand has kept up her high, standard and we had difficulty in picking the best pen. The only criticism we have to make is that there are still some over-fat carcases which don't sell as well as the leaner ones. Taken as a whole all entries were very good." Results were:—North Island district: Southern Hawke's Bay 1. Auckland 2, North Auckland 3. South Island district: Eastern Southland 1, Nelson 2. North Otago 3.
