DEFICIENCY OF £263
Creditors Fail To Form Quorum A deficit of £263 13s was shown by the statement of Cecil Herbert Tonkin, a senior storeman. read to a meeting of his creditors yesterday. Tonkin was adjudged bankrupt on April 14. The Official Assignee (Mr O. T. Grattan) said Tonkin’s statement showed the amount owing to unsecured creditors as £382 3s and the value of his assets as £llB 10s. The reasons given for his bankruptcy were that he had been trading in partnership in a plant-growing business and it foundered because of a hailstorm in which 2000 boxes of plants were lost. The partner had gone away and Tonkin had taken responsibility for the business and had tried to carry on by himself. Tonkin had been in a poor state of health. Tonkin, replying to questions by Mr Grattan, said the gardening was a spare-time job. He was now on sick leave.
The meeting was adjourned for want of a quorum.
