ARMS FOR LAOS
Fighting Goes On (N Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 27. The United States is continuing military supplies to enable the Royal Laotian Government to resist widespread attacks by Cotnmun-ist-supported rebels. The State Department said the Laotian rebels had continued their offensive on several fronts yesterday, although the Royal Laotian Government had accepted the ceasefire proposal. The State Department spokesman < Mr Lincoln White) also said that the Soviet airlift had continued without interruption. “We continue to assert our right to help resupply the Royal Laotian forces till it is proven and made to stick that the other side is not being furnished (by the Communists),” Mr White said. The Laotian . Defence Minister (General Phoumi Nosavan) said today that Government forces will be given a cease-fire order only, after talks with leaders of the Pathet Lao insurgents.
He said he hoped the talks would take place at Luang Prabang on Saturday.
The former neutralist. Premier (Prince Souvanna Phouma) today laid down conditions for a cease-fire in Laos.
