PHOSPHATE STRIKES
Work Resumed At Ocean Is. (N.Z.P.A. -Reuter—Copi/ripht) MELBOURNE. April 25. The Ocean Island phosphate workers’ strike is now ended, according to cabled advice received in Melbourne. The terms, however, are not known. The New Zealand Phosphate Commissioner and the general manager of the Phosphate Commission are proceeding to Nauru where the strike is still in progress. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said at his press conference last night that the New Zealand frigate Pukaki was at Tarawa and would remain there for a day or two while it took on fuel and provisions and members of the ship’s company stretched their legs. Mr Holyoake said that a decision on the ship's future disposition would be made later.
