Obituary MR C. A. MARK
(N Z Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 26. The death occurred suddenly at his home at Silverstream at the week-end of Mr C. A. Mark, protocol officer in the Department of External Affairs . He was 41. A tribute to Mr Mark was paid today by the High Commissioner for Australia (ViceAdmiral Sir John Collins) who said that as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, he had had many dealings with him. Mr Mark, a son of Mr Thomas Mark, a former Public Service Commissioner, collapsed and died while entertaining friends. His father collapsed and died some years ago at Parliament House while waiting to see a Cabinet Minister.
DR. E. N. D'ARCY (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 26. Dr. Eric Newman Smith D'Arcy, of Hamilton, has died in Auckland, aged 52. He was an outstanding athlete and swimmer in his youth and also represented Otago and Otago University at Rugby. Dr. D'Arcy entered practice at Ngaruawahia and moved to ■Hamilton in 1938 He served with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
MR O. D. OLIVER
A well-known farmer at "Surrey Downs.” Pleasant Point, Mr Oscar Dudley
Oliver died in Timaru recently. Mr Oliver was educated at the Pleasant Point School and the Timaru Boys’ High School.
He went overseas with the 7th- Reinforcement of the; Canterbury Mounted Rifles and served for four years in ■ Egypt and Palestine. When | he returned he farmed at j ‘‘Surrey Downs.” and later| leased the property to his nephew, Mr G. Oliver. In l93o’s Mr Oliver took a prominent part in the Downlands water schepie. Mr Oliver was not married. He is survived by three sisters. Misses A. Oliver, M. Oliver, and I. Oliver, of Timaru. and a brother, Mr A. V. Oliver, of Christchurch
