(New Zealand Prert Association)
INVERCARGILL April 26. Based on rates ruling at the last Christchurch sale, prices for medium to strong .crossbred wools were barely maintained on the first day of the final Invercargill sale of the , season today. Fine crossbreds were in seller's favour. lambs' wool was erratic, but along with oddments was firm on late rates. The official report said that occasionally lots of wool snowing excessive brands' failed to draw a bid. Continental buyers domina*ed the market for most types, with support coming from Bradford for the longer wools and the down and ' downcross wools going to Japan, said the report. A total of 25,000 bales was offered on the first day and another 22,500 bales will be” offered on Friday. The selection consisted of a bulk offering of good colour fleece of mixed length and i showing some tenderness, a fairly large offering of good to average lambs' wool, the i usual selection of oddments showing slight discolouration and small offering of woollv hoggets.
