Someone must buy the products of their labour or machines will gather cobwebs, men will stand idle on street corners and grass wiD grow round the factory gates. Advertising not only brings news of new products to people, it persuades them that they want refrigerators, nylons, power-drills ... all the array of goods and services we find essential to our modern standards of living. Advertising keeps machines on the move, men at work and money flowing ... makes housewife, grocer and butcher happy and keeps the Inland Revenue Department busy.
