NORTH BEACH FIRE

Woman Restrained By Neighbours A woman had to be held back by her neighbours as she tried to enter her house which was on fire about 11.30 a.m. yesterday. She is Mrs A. E. Lilley, aged about 70. of 10 Pinewood avenue. North Beach. Mrs Lilley was talking to neighbours when site noticed that her small, three-roomed house was on fire. She tried to rush into the house to rescue some of her belongings but was restrained by the neighbours. One room of the house was gutted and the other rooms were damaged. Mrs Lilley’s husband was at work at the time.

The fire was attended by one unit from the St. Albans fire station and two units from the New Brighton fire station.
