TECHNICAL TRAINING
Commonwealth Week A proposal to open the Commonwealth Technical Training Week in Christchurch with a civic luncheon on May 29 was made at a meeting of the committee yesterday. The idea will be examined by a sub-committee which will make a report to the executive committee. Several persons were discussed as potential speakers and they will be approached by the sub-committee.
“The committee expects there will be 40 to 45 displays in shop windows.” said the acting chairman 'Mr A. B Tuck). The displays w’ould deal with aspects of various trades, the armed services Government departments, local bodv departments and such organisations as the Young Men’s Christian Association and the Boy Scout Movement.
Arrangements have been made to a representative group of factories for visits by schools, and churches of all denominations will have either special services or make mention of the week in services on May 28. The Technical College prize-giving will be held on the evening of May 29. the opening date of the week, in conjunction with the week.
