ROAD SAFETY DELEGATE
Club Selects Mr Mbthison An application by the New Brighton Motor Club seeking representation on the Christchurch Metropolitan Road Safety Committee was approved by the committee last evening, although some doubt was expressed on the choice of the club’s representative. The club nominated the former Minister of Transport (Mr Mathison) to represent it on the committee. “Mr Mathison is still the member of Parliament for Avon and with Parliament soon to be in session I cannot see how he can be here and there as well.” said Mr R. W Smith. “Personally I am a supporter of his, but he cannot be in two places at once and do justice to both.” Mr B. H Paton said that if Mr Mathison was at times unable to attend the committee’s- meetings, then the club could always appoint a replacement. Mr L. Frame said there was some value in having a former Minister of Transport on the committee. “I think it would be an advantage to have Mr Mathison on this committee, even if he’s here only for part of the time,” he said.
