ANZAC DAY THEFTS
Five Premises Entered Five business premises in Christchurch were broken into on Anzac Day. and minor thefts committed. Thieves who forced a rear door of a fruit shop at 419 Colombo street, owned by Mr J Shun. took cigarettes valued at- £5B. and £3 in cash from the till. Whisky worth £7 10s 6d and a small amount of cash were taken from the Phoenix Hotel in Papanui. Louvres were removed to gain entry. Cigarettes valued at £8 were taken from the Marshland Dairy. 128 Marshland road. The shop was entered by a glass panel in the front door being broken.
Intruders who forced the front door of a greengrocer’s shop at 101 North road, owned by Mr R. H. Small, took cigarettes valued at £ll 12s, and tea worth £l. Persons who broke into Fletcher Industries, Ltd., Mandeville road, received scant reward. Only 4d was reported missing to the police.
