CONSTITUTIONAL SOCIETY
City Branch Elects Officers A regional council could not successfully cover such a large area as the South Island except Nelson and Blenheim, said the South Island vicepresident of the Constitutional Society (Mr R. Mosley) at the annual meeting of the Christchurch branch of the society last evening. “The branches are not strong enough to carry the expense, and I suggest that you work direct with head office as a branch. You should have 5000 to 6000 members to maintain a regional council,” he said. “It seems a bit premature,” said the retiring president (Mr H. G. Royds). The meeting decided not to form a regional council. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr R. Lascelles: vice-president, Mr J. PatonBoyd; secretary, Mr A. H. McCormack; committee, Miss B. Hayes, Messrs J. H. R. Parker, J. G. Simpson, A. C. Brassington, H. G. Royds, R. B. Grey, J. A. D. Anderson, L. A. Prouting, L. R. Wilkinson. W. Dodds, W. F. Woolley, and J. R. Lane; delegates to general committee, Messrs Lascelles and Paton-Boyd.
