On the occasion of the seventy-fifth birthday of Oskar Kokoschka on March 1, the Austrian Ministry of Education instituted an International Oskar Kokoschka Prize for painters. The prize carries with it a premium of 50.000 schillings and will be first awarded on March 1, 1962.
