SMOKE FROM TRAINS

Riccarton Residents Complain Forty residents of Brockworth place have signed a petition complaining of smoke from shunting engines. The petition was received by the Riccarton Borough Council on Monday evening. It will be forwarded to the district engineer of the Railways Department. The smoke, the residents complained, ruined gardens and spoiled paintwork, and ; they were forced to do their washing on Sundays. The use of diesel engines might end the nuisance, the residents said.
