"The Press" Special Service. WANGANUI, May 6. Martin Barrlball, A.R.P.S of . gained the award for the champion print in New Zealand when selections for the 6th national salon of the Phpto_§2cigty of New Zealand were made recently. " A' 'special judges’ award was made to N. Wilson, of Wellington. Other awards were made to Shui-Neen Ng, of Hong Kong; for two prints entitled “Aged” an I “Angels in White”; to S. Rumsey, of Auckland, for “Design No. 2”; to M. Barriball for “Rainy Day” and L. A. Lumsden, of Christchurch, for “Some Total.” The selection committee for prints was Dr. J. Salmon, A.R.P.S., of Wellington, Messrs Barry Woods, of Palmerston North, and Ken A. Newton, of Wanganui. The colour slide section was won by J. A. Froggatt, of Dunedin, whose entry was entitled “Symphony in Iron.” Honours were awarded to Mrs I. A. Cooper, A.P.S.A., of Hamilton, for “Lovesong on Venus” and “Mahas of Bharata”; to R. A. Hoggard, of Auckland, for “Metallic Harmony” and Desmond Howard, of Papakura, for “Fantasy.” The Davies Salon of Natural History photographs held in conjunction with the national salon resulted: Champion print, “Native Snail,” by R. M. Webber, of Nelson; champion slide, Mrs S. C. Webber, of Nelson, who chose the same subject. Judges for the colour slide section of the national salon were Messrs H. S. James, A.R.P.S., F.R.S.A., C. C. Smith, A.R.P.S., F.R.S.A., and Russell W. Cooper, A.P.S.A., all of Hamilton. Judges for both sections of the Davies Salon were Dr. Salmon, . Messrs K. Newton and L. Gurr, of Palmerston North.
