OVERSEAS STUDY TOURS

Visits By Government Scientists (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 6. Three scientists of the Department of Agriculture were making overseas study tours, said the Acting-Minister of Agriculture (Mr S. W. Smith) today. They are Miss D. E. K. Walker and Mr D. S. M. Phillips, of the Ruakura Animal Research Station, and Mr K. J. McNaught. of the Rukuhia Soil Research Station. Miss Walker, who is in charge of meat production projects at Ruakura, will study meat production techniques in Britain and the United States, and is to visit Australia for discussions with officials of the Animal Health and Prodution Division. Mr Phillips, an expert on milking machines, will visit research institutions in Britain. Mr McNaught, whose work has dealt with mineral deficiency problems in field and horticultural crops, will study various aspects of these problems in Britain, Holland, and the United States.
