RICCARTON ROAD ROUNDABOUT

Plan For Permanent Installation

Plans to make the traffic roundabout at the cornet of Deans avenue and Riccarton road permanent were approved by the Riccarton Borough Council last evening.

The plans, prepared by the Transport Department, are to be sent to the City Council with at. offer by the borough' council to pay half the cost of the roundabout, including preliminary expenses.

When the parking of cars near the roundabout was mentioned, the Mayor (Mr E. J. Bradshaw) said it was time the Commissioner of Transport (Mr H. B. Smith) decided by regulations the position of parking near roundabouts, and also the right of way on roundabouts. At present. he said, the position was confused.
