Leckie Knocks Out Galacho (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 6. The New Zealand featherweight champion, Billy Leckie <Bst 121 b), of Christchurch, knocked out the Spaniard. Toni Galacho (9st 31b). in the eighth round of a 12-round professional light-weight bout in the Town Hall tonight. The end came suddenly, for Galacho had been boxing strongly till Leckie knocked him out with a short right. Tivo Short Bouts In Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 6. A bare seven and a half minutes of one-sided professional fighting resulted tonight when the Auckland Boxing Association held its second carnival at the Town Hall. In the main contest. Mike Ravula (Fiji). 12st 81b. was disqualified against Len Dennis. 12st 111 b, the former English fighter, and in the premilinary Johnny lefata (Western Samoa). 12st 41b, made short work of a Fijian. Silisoma Panaposa, 12st 71b. Ravula crashed a series of heavy rights through Dennis’s defences and soon had him on the canvas for a count of eight. Dennis continued on the defensive and was still on his feet as the bell sounded for the end of the first round. A second or two later. Ravula brought another of his massive right hooks through the lowered guard of the Englishman to spin him against the far ropes. Dennis had his hand raised by the referee (Mr E. C. Armishaw). “I was used to the 10-second buzzer before the final bell.” Ravula said in his dressing room afterwards, “and I thought that was what it was.”

Match Winner To Fight Beazley (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) (Rec 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 6. The New Zealand middle-weight boxer. Bill Beazley, would be matched against the winner of tonight's bout between Tommy Evans and Clarrie Grogan, the manager of the Sydney Stadium, Mr H. Miller, said today. The winner would also have a bout with Clive Stewart, of Queensland, he said. Beazley was beaten by the South African middle-weight champion. Mike Holt, in his first bout in Australia last month.
