Table Tennis SECOND ROUND MATCHES
Christchurch Beats Eagles Christchurch, with a well-balanced team, beat Eagles by 9 matches to 3 in the second round of the Canterbury Table Tennis Association’s first grade competition last evening. J. Armstrong won all his singles matches for the losing team. In the second set of Armstrong’s match with R. W. R. Mercer, it appeared as though Mercer’s strong attack would be decisive. However, Armstrong tightened up his defence in the third set to win comfortably. Christchurch again showed great superiority in doubles play. Armstrong and N. B. Radford (North Beach) are the only players still unbeaten in singles matches. North Beach beat Panthers by 7 matches to 5. Last year's winner, Selwyn. had an easy 11-1 victory over the strong High School Old Boys’ team, and Linwood had an easy win over University. Points after two rounds are: wyn 4, North Beach 4, Christchurch 4, High School Old Boys 2, Linwood 2, University 0, Panthers 0. Eagles O. The results were:— Christchurch v. Eagles Singles—R. W. R.
