British Watch On Ku Klux Klan
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, May 5. The Home Secretary (Mr R. A. Butler) stated in answer to a House of Commons question, that the police were watching Ku Klux Klan sympathisers in Britain.
“The police are aware that there are such sympathisers but their activities are on a very small scale,” he said.
“Action will be taken if anything occurs likely to lead to a breach of the peace.*’ Mr Fenner Brockway (Labour) had said that the foreign organisation had agents in seven towns in Britain, with a membership of several hundred, and that it was planning guerrilla action against Africans and Jews. Mr Butler gave an assurance that the police would keep a very close watch on any such activity.
