“Pravda” Criticises Soviet Press
(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 5. The Soviet Communist Party newspaper, “Pravda,” has criticised Russian newspapers as colourless, lifeless, boring, and difficult to read, the Moscow Radio reported today. In a leading article marking Soviet Press Day, the newspaper said that great strides had been taken since the days of the first underground revolutionary leaflets. But it claimed that the Russian press needed more variety and life. “We still have many colourless and boring newspapers, filled with articles that are difficult to read, and written in the dry-as-dust language of officialdom,” “Pravda” said.
