UNITED NATIONS POWERS
“Double Standard” Denied By U.S.
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)
(Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 5. Mr Henry Cabot Lodge, the chief United States delegate to the United Nations, denied today that the United Nations had a dual standard for weak and strong nations.
But he said that the United Nations could never compel either the United States or the Soviet Union to do anything.
He also said that the world organisation was growing in influence.
There might be war now except for its intervention in the recent Middle East fighting, he said.
Mr Lodge made his statements in a television Interview.
