BEAUTIFUL POHARA BEACH. POHARA BEACH is one of the Loveliest Beaches on New Zealand's Coast Line, and is undoubtedly the best beach in the South Island. Lovely clean sand, free from rocks, and unique in its complete freedom from undertow. It is safe for the smallest children at all stages of the tide. Golden Bay on which it is situated, is renowned for its good fishing. Golden Bay enjoys one of the best climates in New Zealand, with very little wind, and only very mild frosts are experienced at Pohara Beach. Pohara is one of the most popular Summer Resorts in the South Island, and every year campers return from as far south as Dunedin to enjoy its lovely summer climate. The only land suitable for beach residences has now been subdivided into 32 level sections of one-fifth of an acre each. They all front the tarsealed highway which runs along the beach, and are well sheltered from the prevailing winds.
