KINGSHIP WINS AT DOOMBEN
(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) BRISBANE, May 5. The former New Zealand sprinter Kingship won the £2OOO Newmarket Handicap at Doomben today from Psycho and New Joy. Kingship started equal" favourite, 3/1, with the South Australian sprinter Copper Year, which finished fifth. It was in the Newmarket. Handicap a year ago that Kingship had his first .start in Australia, and lost by half a neck to Regal Dignity. Yesterday, Kingship was within striking distance of the leaders at the turn, Where he was running third. Over the last furlong. Kingship put everything into his effort to beat Psycho by three-quarters of a length, with a length to New Joy.
