Car Strikes Culvert Near Fernside

Two men were injured when the car they were travelling in struck a culvert on the Oxford road near Fernside, at 1.45 am yesterday. The car was extensively damaged. The two men were taken by St John Ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital. John William Elmers, of Kaiapoi was reported to be in a satisfactory condition last evening. The other man, also from Kaiapnl. Alexander Wilson Andrews, was sent home yesterday. Pedestrian Hurt

A man was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital wi»h injuries suffered when he walked into a moving car early on Saturday evening. He was Mr Allan Purtle, of 35 Stevens street. His condition last evening was said to be satisfactory.
