Contempt Of Congress

(Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 30.

Dr. Otto Nathan, a New York University economics professor, was convicted by Judge Edward Curran today of contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions by an Un-American Activities Sub-committee of the House of Representatives. Dr. Nathan, executor of the estate of the ] ate r - Einstein, had refused to tell the sub-committee whether he had been a Communist or to testify about another person in whom the sub-committee was interested. The sub-committee, he argued, had no right to inquire into his political- beliefs and associations. Dr. Nathan’s lawyers \ said he would appeal.
