£3000 GIVEN TO ARCHER HOME

New Wing Planned By Board

The Archer Memorial Home Board, which has oversight of a home for elderly women at 166 Colombo street, Christchurch, has recently received a gift of £3OOO to provide a new wing to the present house. This gift to the board, which is under the auspices of the Baptist Church in Canterbury, was made by a woman who asked that her name be not disclosed. She gave the money to build the new wing in memory of a friend who for many years was a member of the church. As this gift will in all probability be subject to a Government subsidy, a substantial addition to the home may be possible. A local firm of architects has plans in preparation, and a commencement on the project is expected soon.
