PROTECTION AT SUMNER
Address To Residents’ Association Members of the Sumner Residents’ Association were addressed last evening by Mr W. H. Scott, of the City Engineer’s staff, on the proposed protection plan, as he visualised it, for the Sumner coastline. Mr Scott discussed matters which he published in a report in 1955. K. McAlpine) to obtain up-to-date information. Further approaches have been made to the Christchurch City Council by both this association and the Sumner Lifeboat Institute. “The latest information from the institute is that it is hopeful that some action will be taken during this year,” the report said The report also said that an assurance had been given by the Christchurch City Council that street lighting similar to that existing in : Ferry road would be continued through Sumner to the junction of Wakefield avenue and Evans Pass road. It was expected that the work would be started by August of this year. Officers elected were:—Patron, Dr. P. C. Fenwick; president, Mr G. F. Allen; vice-president, Mr R. C. Neville; treasurer, Mr J.
