MEMORIAL TO N.Z. SOLDIERS

Plaque To Be Set Up On Rimutaka Road

(New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, May 1.

A memorial plaque is to be placed on the summit of the Rimutaka Hill road. It will commemorate the men who in World War I marched over the hill from Featherston to embark for overseas service. Several thousand men from many parts of New Zealand have marched over the hill. Featherston Military Camp was the main North Island training centre for infantry and cavalry, and it was part of the final training for the men to march from Featherston to Trentham before leaving for France.

The Wellington regional Committee of the National Historic Places Trust, with the co-opera-tion of the Wairafrapa regional committee, is to erect the plaque.
