The balance in the accounts of the Lyttelton Harbour Board of £90.952 for the period OctoberApril 24 is £20,909 higher than for the corresponding period last year.

The income was £302,506, compared with £244,955. Cargo statistics for April, with comparisons for April, 1956, in parenthesis, reported to yesterday’s meeting of the board were: imports, 65,415 tons (74,166 tons); exports, 30,138 tons (28,485 tons). Vessels entering the port in April numbered 77 (82), of a tonnage of 193,126 (196,246). Sixteen were overseas ships. Three arrived direct from overseas and two sailed direct for overseas.
