PRESENTATION TO N.Z. WRITER
Function In New York
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, May 1. A presentation to the New Zealand ‘writer, Miss Nola Luxford, of a life-size painting, from the New Zealand-American Association, with headquarters in Wellington, New Zealand, was made last week in New York.
The occasion was a reception at the Overseas Press Club’s headquarters. The club has a membership of more than 1600 writers and correspondents, says a report from New York.
Mr Wayne Richardson, club president, paid a tribute to Anzac Day at the reception. Miss Luxford, who founded the
Anzac war-time volunteer club for servicemen, was credited with continued work for international understanding and goodwill, and for the founding of the Anzac Garden of Remembrance, where annual services are held, on the Sunday nearest Anzac Day. She is a member of the international committee of the Women’s Press Club of New York City. The portrait was painted by Olive Laurenson, a New Zealand artist, says the report.'
