Bows And Arrows In Ghana Clash

(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) ACCRA, April 29. Three persons were injured in a bow and arrow fight during a week-end political clash at Senesi, in the Ghana province of Ashanti, where a by-election was held last Thursday. Police have detained 24 persons for questioning. The area is in the Brono area of Ashanti. The by-election was dominated by the controversial claim by many Bronos for the region to be separate and not part of Ashanti. The seat was held by the governing Convention People’s Party with an increased majority. The Ashanti region is the stronghold of the Opposition in Ghana.
