W.E.A. CLASSES POPULAR

Enrolment Figures Inquiries for Workers’ Educational Association courses this year were phenomenal, said Mr G. Manning. This indicated a wide interest in the subjects on the syllabus. Though final figures were not yet available, inquiries indicated that those classes which had not vet met would be just as popular. For several practical courses applications were greater than the number that could be accommodated. The two painting classes have 15 and 18 members in their respective divisions. A course in italic handwriting has 16 members. a complete class. General international affairs has drawn 35 enrolments. The chairmanship course also has 35 enrolments. Two classes in floral decoration have 40 and 38 enrolments. Eleven persons are learning to play the violin with the W.E.A. Enrolments for the homecraft courses are: dressmaking 17. dress cutting and draughting 17, embroidery 15, millinery, two classes of 24. Those academic classes which are now in progress have these memberships: public speaking 38. elementary Italian 20. literature 43. French elementary 25. advanced 11, psychology 68. and natural history 60 Two afternoon classes, which met yesterday, were international affairs (17) and dressmaking (18).
