COMMONWEALTH CENTRAL BANKS
Governors To Meet In Sydney (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 30. Central bank governors—Sir Arthur Ranasinha, of the Central Bank of Ceylon, Mr Abdul Qadir, of the State Bank of Pakistan, and Mr E. C. Fussell, of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand—will arrive at Sydney in the next few days for talks with Dr. H. C. Coombs, Governor of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, who is not able to attend personally, will be represented at the talks by Dr. B. K. Madan, the bank’s economic adviser. The bank governors will confer on central banking matters of common interest, including particularly a project to establish a joint course of training for potential central bank executives. This course would be designed to cover the financial and economic characteristics and problems of the countries taking part, ’the techniques, organisation and procedures of central banking and general principles of management and administration. The project arose out of a discussion in London last October at a meeting of central bank governors of the Commonwealth countries.
