IMPRISONMENT FOR FOUR YEARS
Sentence Imposed At Timaru (New Zealand Press Association) TIMARU, April 30. "It is quite obvious from a perusal of the evidence given in the Lower Court and from the probation officer’s report, that you are a public menace,” said Mr Justice Henry in thd Timaru Supreme Court today, imposing a sentence of four years’ imprisonment on Eric Ross, a workman, aged 47, of Washdyke. Ross had previously pleaded guilty in the Timaru Magistrate’s Court to three charges of an unnatural offence and one of indecent assault on a male. He was sentenced to the term of imprisonment of a first charge and convicted and discharged on the others. His Honour said that from a perusal of his previous convictions Ross had qualified for a sentence of preventive detention.
