N.Z. CHILLED BEEF IN BRITAIN
March Shipments “Best Yet” (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 30. Shipments of New Zealand chilled beef which arrived in the United Kingdom in March contained some of the best yet sent, says the latest London market report of the New Zealand Meat Board. Carried without gas in just under 40 days, the quarters arrived in excellent condition. The consignments. equal to any received from the Argentine, realised prices very close to Argentine levels. A better price level than that obtained during March should prevail throughout April in spite of the resistance to higher prices likely to be shown by the retail trade. Supplies of Argentine and Australian lamb are fairly limited and the market is open.
