“King Wins Early Round”

(Rec. 8 p.m.) CANBERRA. April 30. King Hussein had won the early round in his struggle to maintain Jordan’s integrity, the Minister of External Affairs, Mr Casey, said today. Mr Casey, replying to a Government member in the House of Representatives, said he had received no spectacular news about Jordan in the last 24 hours. Jordan’s integrity, he said, had been assaulted by Egypt and Syria. Mr Casey said Communist influences were operating. Britain and the United States were supporting King Hussein in his struggle to maintain his country’s independence. He hoped Israel would exercise every restraint in the situation. “All people of goodwill will hope the young King succeeds in his great task.”
