Couple Injured In Collision
When the car in which they were travelling and a truck collided in Tram road, near Swannanoa, about 9.45 a.m. yesterday. Mr and Mrs R. J. Hampton, of 154 Stanmore road, were injured. After receiving treatment from Dr. C. F. McKee, of Kaiapoi, they were taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where Mrs Hampton was admitted. Her condition last night was satisfactory. The truck, which belonged to the Eyre County Council, was driven by Mr R. F. Chapman.
Man Injured By Falling Door
Head and leg injuries were suffered by Francis Diver, of 53 Tennyson street, when an iron door fell on him while he was working in Manchester street, opposite the Municipal Electricity Department, at 12.59 p.m. yesterday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition last night was satisfactory.
Cyclist Injured
A cyclist. Miss Doris Ede, aged 39, of 320 Madras street, suffered back injuries when she was involved in a collision with a car at the corner of Madras street and Oxford terrace at 7.40 p.m. on Monday. She was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where her condition last night was satisfactory.
To Live in U.S.—The New Zealand champion diver, A. Plowman, will leave for the United States on Friday to take up permanent residence. He intehds to work for a gymnastic apparatus company in lowa.—(P. A.)
