Psychiatric Services
Sir—One can only write with the utmost sympathy for persons needing psychiatric treatment. Their real need is trust in God and in our Lord Jesus Christ. For that faith in the Almighty removes care and fear and gives the patient courage. The woman with a sick husband could, of course, be helped in other ways as well—for instance, someone to be with the patient while she rests or has a little break and a mild sedative at bedtime. But the greatest need is spiritual. Even many Church folk do not
think of God as real and helpful in every-day living. But anyone in need could undoubtedly be helped by one of evangelical faith.—Yours, etc., TRIED IT. April 29, 1957.
