REFUGEES FROM HUNGARY
Hunger Strike At Camp In Eire
(Rec. 11 p.m.) ENNIS (Eire), April 29. The 371 Hungarian refugees at Knockalisheen camp. County Clare, announced their intention to start a hunger strike today to draw attention to their plight. Even children would not be fed, refugee spokesmen said. They said they have been five months in the camp without being able to obtain permanent employment or secure permits to travel to the United States or Canada. At its peak the camp had a refugee population of 530.
Diabetes Pin.—British scientists are speeding up research to find a diabetes pill to do away with the hypodermic syringe, according to the British Diabetic Association. Work is going on in Cambridge and in teaching hospitals. It is concentrated on a substance labelled DB6O, a relative of the sulpha drugs, which lowers the amount of sugar in the blood. —London, April 29.
