BAY OF PLENTY BY-ELECTION
Result Of Final Ceunt
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 28.
The National Party increased its majority in the final count from the provisional result ih the Bay of Plenty by-election at the beginning of April. The official result was announced iff Whakatane by the returning officer of the electorate (Mr A. E. Crimp). The voting resulted.— P. B. Allen (National) 5290.
T. G. Santon (Labour) 4091. R. J. Pedley (Liberal Federation) 317.
Majority for Allen, 1199. The majority for the National candidate was reduced by 1863 on the last General Election’s figures, when the former Minister of Labour (Mr * W. Sullivan) polled 6928 votes.
Nearly 3000 fewer people voted at the by-election, although Mr Santon, who stood for the seat at the General Election, collected 225 more votes.
