AOTEA WHEAT CROP

27,000 Bushels Available (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 28 It is estimated that at least 27.000 bushels of Aotea. the new wheat released by the Wheat Research Committee recently, will be harvested in 1958. The yield increase over Cross 7 will be 5000 bushels in the first year and 150 000 in the .second year. The rate of increase up to 1958- will be determined by the seed available. At the very least 45.000 bushels will be grown in 1959- This will yield about 2.000,000 bushels, representing an increase of approximately 360,000 bushels over the yield from a similar area put down in Cross 7. The increased cash yield will be £189.000. The value of the increase in the saving of New Zealand money, as paid to Australia at the 10s 6d bushel rate, is estimated at £2625 in 1958 and £78,750 in 1959. *
