GIRLS’ LIFE BRIGADE
Annual Parade Of Cadets
The annual parade and service of the Christchurch division of the cadet section of then Girls’ Life Brigade on Sunday afternoon was attended by more than 1000 officers, cadets, and parents. The service was held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. The parade assembled in Latimer square, and was led by the Boys’ Brigade Band, followed by colour parties, officers and cadets from the first and second battalions.
The divisional officer commanding cadets (Major F. Inglis? officiated at the service- Visitors and cadets were welcomed by the Commissioner, Major J. French and the president (Mrs L. Rushworth). The chaplain of the first battalion (the Rev. L. V. Willing) led in prayer, and the chaplain of the second battalion (the Rev. T Carr) read the lesson. The cadets were addressed by the divisional chaplain (the Rev. P. Stead). After the benediction the area representative from Timaru presented the parade cup to the winners, the sixth Christchurch company.
