COUNTRY WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
Canterbury Federation
Arrangements for the division of the Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes were completed at a meeting held recently when the members of the former executive committee and the officers of the two newlyformed executive committees were present. Mrs Pattison presided, and welcomed new members.
A committee was set up to assist in the operation of the housekeeper scheme, and there was a long discussion on the future management of the institute rooms. A committee, with Mrs W. Anderson as convener and consisting of two representatives from each of the two new federations, was set up. It was decided that the Canterbury executive would hold its meetings on the first Wednesday of the month and Canterbury East on the third Wednesday of the month.
Mesdames Morten and Mc-Gregor-Smith were congratulated on the work they had done in painting the kitchen, and a gift token was presented to the auditor. Sympathy was expressed with Mrs Parkins in her illness.
