TROTTING Suzendy Favoured In Forbury Park Sprint
Suzendy, a good third to Golden Chimes and Gold Mist in the President’s Handicap on the second day of the Addington Easter meeting, looks favourably placed on the ..front to win the Renown Handicap on the opening day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s winter meeting today.
Suzendy is one of the most capable sprinters in her class, and the mile and three-furlong race today should suit her admirably. The U. Scott mare was a winner three starts ago and she should extend her record for her Templeton trainer, F. E. Newfield.
Blue Jay, a daughter of Great Blaze, has great speed and she is another expected to appreciate the sprint distance. She should be one of the hardest to beat. Parable will be in demand if he fails earlier in the day in the St. Clair Handicap. The Dillon Hall gelding is usually most reliable, and he. looks handily placed or> the front.
Phantasy, a decisive winner at Addington, will be in demand, in spite of her rehandicap of 24 yards. She is a grand sprinter and if she escapes trouble, will take catching.
Dame Sybil, Colossal Queen •Responsive are others capable of adding interest to the finish. Fourth Edition and Johnny Guitar stand out in their respective divisions of the Domain Handicap. Fourth Edition was a good fourth in the Pacing Stakes at his last start, and he should win the first division. Most opposition to him may come from Tonga, Commander Spangle, Keff and Buckaloo. Johnny Guitar was a good second to Maharaja in the Pacing Stakes at his last start and he stands out in the second division, in which Blue Emperor and Tourie may show up. May Win Again Dresden Lady, decisive winner of the Autumn Stakes at Addington last Saturday, should extend her record in the Flying Handicap, which has drawn a fine field considering the poor stake of £BOO. The Light Brigade mare is in great form and from the front mark she should set the others a difficult chase.
Derive will again be in demand in this race. Derive will appreciate the extra furlong, as he is a better stayer than a sprinter, although he raced well in sprints at Addington for a first and a third. Lady. Shona was never a prospect in the Rattray Stakes at Addington after missing the start. She, too, is smart over short distances and could easily surprise. Don Hall and Count Grattan may do best of the others on the front, with Light Nurse, Excelsa and Invicta making most appeal of those further back. Derive is expected to be a firm favourite for the Winter Handicap, the first leg of the double, but he will not have things his own way. He raced with distinction at the recent Addington meeting, and, if he is not feeling the effects of racing on soft ground last week, he should take part in the finish. , Dresden Lady, which has been penalised 12 yards for her win last week, is in great order and she may be hard to beat. Don Hall. Light Nurse, Marshall Foi, Lady Shona and Stadium Chief may also race well.
Three young horses—Gentry, Auditor and Achates—are selected to fight out the finish of the second leg, the Beach Handicap, in which the chances of Golden Hero, Rey Derby and Next Time are also highly regarded.
