Charles Taylor “In your account of the life of Mr Charles Taylor there is no mention of his cricket interest. ve years ago he played for Addington. A match was arranged with St. Albans on Boxing Day, but only two Addington men turned up—Charlie Taylor and Tom Flower. St. Albans was of the opinion that it had won the match, but Charlie and Tom decided to go in to stone-wall until the players arrived. This they did and one by one. the others turned up. Tom was the first out at 60 odd, and Charlie went on to make 95. Addington kept St. Albans in the field all the afternoon. Charlie was also in the team which won the senior cricket cup in 1884. and played for Riccarton in the team which won the third grade Cup in 1905-1906.”—ALFRED BATTEN. '
