Town Planning
Sir, —During the long secrecy concerning the insiduous spread of class C or other type of industry liable to create disturbance amdng unsuspecting home owners or occupiers, what remote chance have they had of understanding, or of protection from, this form of menace to health or comfort? What protest has been, or is, possible against an unknown plan?— Yours, etc.,
HONESTY PLEASE. April 20, 1957. [The Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast) said: “Unfortunately there is no legislative provision under which a local body makes known any minor alterations in the zoned use of land under an undisclosed town-planning scheme, to which, presumably, the correspondent refers. Any such alterations are made by the council in open meeting, but that, of course, does not insure that the change is publicised. The newspapers, however, publish particulars of any major changes affecting large areas. Changes in the permitted use of individual properties are made only after careful investigation of the circumstances.’’!,
