Rebirth Of Town In Malaya
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) KUALA LUMPUR, April 22. Tras, for six years a ghost town in the Central Malayan jungle, is to be reocCupied by its 2000 inhabitants with the help of loans from the Malayan Housing Trust, a spokesman of the trust said. today. The town was closed in 1951 and its inhabitants resettled at nearby Raub after terrorists shot dead the British High Commissioner, Sir Henry Gurney. The spokesman said that 55 shops were being renovated and the trust would lend money to build about 50 houses.
